In yet another tech related lawsuit, Transcenic, Inc. is suing Microsoft, MapQuest, AOL and Google claiming they acquired the tech required for 3D mapping illegally. The technology in question powers the methods in which Google’s streetview, Microsoft’s streetside, and AOL MapQuest’s 360 View work belongs to a patent they own.
To put things in a geekier manner they claim (According to Engadget) that
“(A)ll named parties borrowed, without permission, a bit from a patent it owns on a 3D cartography technology that captures spatial reference images and uses a database to navigate them on command.”
