Google Realtime Search disabled, to work in Google+?

Google Realtime search results that include social media updatesa

Google has temporarily disabled its Realtime Search function, which gave results that included real-time updates from Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed and a bevy of other social networking sites. Now it looks like Google is trying to figure out a way to work its own social networking baby, Google+, into that mix. a

A tweet sent out from Google Realtime early Monday morning (July 4) reads rather simply and cryptically: "We've temporarily disabled google.com/realtime. We're exploring how to incorporate Google+ into this functionality, so stay tuned."a

Google+, is of course, the Next Big Thing from the behemoth search engine trying to capitalize on our insatiable appetite for social networking. It has already struck out with Wave and Buzz. Neither ever caught on.a

Since it was introduced in December 2009, the features of Realtime have evolved to include a separate site for users only interested in real-time updates in their search results. a

No more details than that are coming forth from Google, but we'll stay turned, as they've advised, and let you know what we find out. a
