aaaaaSoon you’ll be able to make video calls with your Facebook friends â" because next week Facebook is launching a Skype-powered video chat facility that will be working inside your browser.
aaaaaFacebook had plans to announce this âawesome productâ in their upcoming special event on 6th of July, but the good people at TechCrunch have already made the news public. Prominent websites which cover industry happenings have noted they got invites to a special event scheduled for July 6th. aaaaaAccording to Michael Arrington at TechCrunch, aaaaaThe product has been built on Skype and will include a desktop component. Itâs not clear to me whether that means it will just work if a user has Skype already installed on the computer, or if additional software will need to be downloaded even if the user already uses Skype. But itâs clear that thereâs very deep integration between the products, and from the userâs perspective, the product will be an in browser experience. aaaaaThis is not the first time that Facebook and Skype are working together, as these companies have also joined hands previously to add Facebook features to Skype applications, including the desktop version. aaaaaLets wait and see what else this event will bring forward. What do you think?
