Telkomsel Tak Capai Target 100 Juta Pelanggan

Jakarta - Target 100 juta pelanggan seluler yang ditargetkan Telkomsel hingga akhir 2010 lalu tak tercapai. Melihat kenyataan itu, sang operator kini coba realistis dalam memperebutkan pasar seluler di 2011. Saat penutupan tahun 2010 lalu, pelanggan Telkomsel yang berhasil tercatat hanya di angka 95 juta saja. Jumlah tersebut kurang lima juta lagi dari target yang dicanangkan saat awal tahun lalu. Direktur Utama Telkomsel Sarwoto Atmosutarno menjelaskan, tidak tercapainya target 100 juta tersebut lebih disebabkan karena pasar seluler di Indonesia sudah mengalami masa kejenuhan. "Kami tidak sampai 100 juta karena market sudah saturated," kata dia usai menghadiri acara pelantikan pejabat eselon I di kantor Kementerian Kominfo, Jakarta, Jumat (7/1/2011). Dia enggan menyebutkan target penambahan pelanggan pada tahun ini, karena pasar telekomunikasi dinilainya sudah cukup dinamis. "Telkomsel target marketnya dinamis dan terus dievaluasi setiap tiga bulan sekali," kata Sarwoto. Meski tak berhasil mencapai target, jumlah pelanggan Telkomsel saat ini masih yang terbanyak dibandingkan operator lain. Pesaing terdekatnya hanya Indosat dan XL Axiata yang sama-sama membukukan jumlah pelanggan di kisaran 40 juta.

Buat yang sudah berlangganan internet dengan teknologi ADSL misalnya pasti sudah akrab dengan yang namanya SNR margin dan Line Attenuation. Informasi ini bisa anda dapatkan di bagian ADSL Status pada menu modem. Nilainya bisa bervariasi dan selalu berubah - ubah. Mari kita bahas satu persatu.

SNR = Signal to Noise Ratio. Untuk lebih jelas, mari kita lihat rumusnya

Jelas kan, nilai SNR dipengaruhi oleh kekuatan signal dan besarnya noise (gangguan). Secara kasar tanpa melihat nilai power signal dan noise, semakin bisar nilai SNR maka kualitas yang didapat akan semakin baik (bisa jadi signalnya yang besar atau noisenya yang kecil).

Sedangkan Line Attenuation (dB) adalah besarnya faktor redaman kabel. Tau sendiri kan kabel punya yang namanya velocity factor. Tentunya semakin panjang maka loss-nya akan semakin besar. Rumusnya

Loss (dB) = 10 log (P m2/P m1)

dimana :
P m1 adalah pembacaan power di titik awal
P m2 adalah pembacaan power di titik akhir

Setiap kabel memiliki nilai yang berbeda - beda tergantun dari bahan dan luas penampang kabel. Nah logikanya, semakin kecil nilai Line Attenuation maka akan semakin baik.

Perlu diingat bahwa nilai SNR margin yang paling minimum adalah 10-11 dB karena apabila kurang dari itu makan proses sync antara modem dengan DSLAM akan terganggu yang menimbulkan internet di tempat anda akan sering putus - putus.

Oke, kali ini saya akan berbagi bagaimana kualitas sambungan ADSL ke rumah saya. Modem yang saya gunakan adalah D-Link DSL 2640T (modem & wireless router). Nah, ketika saya lihat status SNR margin dan Line Attenuation, terbaca seperti ini :
Wow, berarti bagus banget dong?? Pastinya ... dengan kualitas sambungan yang oke seperti ini sampai hari ini saya tidak pernah mengalami masalah (padahal sudah setahun lebih langganan internet broadband ini). Selain itu yang membuat nilai line attenuation kecil sekali karena posisi rumah saya sangat dekat sekali dengan sentral telepon (baca:kantor telkom). Pengen tau seberapa dekat? yaaa kurang lebih 20 meter-an lah. :)

Emang sih teknologi ADSL memiliki kelemahan dimana semakin jauh posisi kita dengan sentral telepon, maka kualitasnya semakin menurun. Maka jangan heran kalo kita pake speedy oke - oke aja sedangkan temen yang lain malah sering bermasalah bisa jadi karena kualitas sambungan yang buruk serta diperparah dengan modem yang kurang bagus.

Lenovo Pamerkan Tablet Windows 7

Jakarta - Di ajang Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2011, Las Vegas, Lenovo mulai memamerkan tablet dengan Windows 7. Seperti apa tablet tersebut? Tablet tersebut dipamerkan dalam CES Unveiled, sebuah pameran mini sebelum CES 2011 resmi dibuka yang digelar di The Venetian, Las Vegas, Selasa (4/1/2011) waktu setempat, atau Rabu (5/1/2010).  Meski belum memiliki nama resmi, beberapa pihak menyebutnya IdeaPad Tablet.  Perangkat ini dirancang untuk berdiri sendiri, tidak seperti IdeaPad S10-3t yang bisa 'ditempel' menjadi notebook. Perangkat ini memiliki layar 10.1 inchi, prosesor Intel Atom Oak Trail dan sistem operasi Windows 7. Lenovo juga menyiapkan 'skin' untuk user interface-nya. Belum terlalu banyak detil yang ditampilkan untuk perangkat ini. Salah satu yang sudah tampak, perangkat ini bisa digunakan dengan jari maupun dengan stylus khusus untuk kendali yang lebih presisi. Lenovo mengakui masih banyak yang sedang dikembangkan di atas tablet terbarunya itu, termasuk user interface-nya. Rencananya perangkat ini akan hadir sekitar Mei 2011.

RIM Tahan Kehadiran BlackBerry 4G?

Jakarta - Research In Motion (RIM) disebut-sebut tengah mengembangkan BlackBerry yang akan berjalan di jaringan 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE). Namun rencana untuk melepas produk tersebut ke pasar sepertinya ditunda. BlackBerry 4G ini sebelumnya dikatakan bakal dirilis pada tahun 2011. Namun lantaran satu dan lain hal, kehadiran BlackBerry 4G dikabarkan terpaksa ditahan RIM sampai akhir 2011 atau bisa saja sampai tahun depan. Pasalnya, dikutip detikINET dari Ubergizmo, Selasa (4/1/2010), sebuah sumber mengatakan bahwa vendor asal Kanada itu menilai jika LTE masih belum siap dari sejumlah sisi. Misalnya dari urusan chip LTE yang dikatakan masih boros energi. Selain itu, RIM juga dikatakan kurang sreg dengan harga chip LTE yang masih mahal. Jadi, masih menurut sumber itu, RIM menilai masih perlu waktu untuk mempersiapkan BlackBerry 4G agar lebih siap sebelum dirilis secara luas ke pasar. Kehadiran smartphone 4G saat ini memang masih terbilang sebagai barang 'mewah'. Baru segelintir vendor yang dikabarkan siap melepas jagoannya di segmen ini. Di antaranya ada nama HTC, Samsung, Motorola dan Sony.

Ramaikan Pasar, Operator Jepang akan Rilis Tablet Android

Jakarta - Ranah tablet kian ramai. Satu lagi pemain baru terjun di pasar ini, yakni operator mobile terbesar di Jepang, NTT DoCoMo. Kabar yang beredar menyebutkan, NTT DoComo akan melansir tablet yang dibesut LG Electronics sebagai partner produksinya. Dikutip detikINET dari Reuters, Senin (03/01/2011), tablet yang segera dirilis di Jepang akhir Maret 2011 ini diperkirakan akan memiliki layar berukuran 9 inch dan berbekal sistem operasi Android Google. Spesifikasi lain soal tablet yang dirilis NTT DoComo belum terungkap. Nikkei Business Daily yang pertama kali memberitakannya tidak menyebutkan dengan jelas narasumber yang membeberkan keterangan mengenai hal ini. Tak disebutkan pula berapa perkiraan harga tablet tersebut apabila sudah meluncur di pasaran nanti. Dalam laporannya hanya disebutkan bahwa para pengguna pastinya akan mendapatkan akses internet melalui koneksi seluler DoCoMo. Yang jelas, tablet tersebut akan semakin menyesakkan pasar tablet yang tengah ramai saat ini. Trafik SMS XL Melonjak 16% di Tahun Baru

Jakarta - Kenaikan trafik dirasakan operator telekomunikasi XL Axiata menjelang pergantian tahun pada 31 Desember 2010. Mereka pun mengklaim dapat menangani lonjakan trafik ini dengan baik. Pada hari biasa, trafik percakapan oleh pengguna XL tercatat mencapai 600 juta menit. Sedangkan trafik SMS sebesar 650 juta SMS, kemudian pada data mencapai jumlah 17 terabytes. Menurut keterangan Febriati Nadira, Head of Corporate Communication XL, terjadi kenaikan pada ketiga layanan tersebut pada hari pergantian tahun. Kenaikan trafik tertinggi terjadi pada layanan SMS sebesar 16%, kemudian data sebesar 4% dan suara sejumlah 3%. Sedangkan penggunaan trafik tertinggi terdapat di region Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku dan Papua yang mencapai 10%.
