Valve is considering a Steam app for smartphones

In an interview with MCV, Valve’s Dough Lombardi and Jason Holtman admitted that they were a bit late on delivering the Steam experience on mobile platforms, however they will consider further development as more request start to pour in.

“We do feel we’re late on mobile across many of Valve’s services,” said the firm’s marketing VP, Doug Lombardi. “It is something we’re starting to look at now. People are starting to ask us for it. The more requests we receive, the more we feel the need to act on them.”

“Mobile is really interesting. If you’re making games, you have to be thinking about having a platform in this space. But it’s too early to say anything definitive,” added Valve’s Jason Holtman, director of business development and legal affairs.

Personally, the only functionality I would want from a Steam app is the ability to purchase a game from the app itself and begin downloading on a selected PC through a simple webUI interface. That would make life a lot more simpler.

Note: Hey Valve, in case you are inspired by this idea, I want to free Steam games, plus 10% cut on profits, plus credits. Just saying.
