NetSuite Partners with Google for Cloud Productivity

NetSuite made a slew of announcements this week as part of its SuiteWorld 2011 conference Relevant Products/Services. And NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson took the opportunity to stream his keynote address in a webinar that let even those who couldn't attend the conference get news right from the stage.

Among the announcements, NetSuite has partnered with Google Relevant Products/Services to delivery improved cloud Relevant Products/Services productivity to the enterprise Relevant Products/Services. Explore Consulting announced a Facebook Webstore SuiteApp for NetSuite's Cloud Computing Platform. Yammer and NetSuite teamed up to socialize business data Relevant Products/Services activity. And NetSuite announced the launch of NetSuite Unlimited, a cloud-business suite designed for ERP needs.

Loving Yammer

During the keynote address, Nelson and Yammer CEO David Sacks announced an integration between the two products that paves the way for mission-critical data to be socialized within the enterprise. In a product demonstration, the CEOs showed how activities such as generating invoices, product shipment fulfillment, and sales reps placing orders can be what they call "socialized" and transmitted as an "activity stream" on Yammer.

"We've seen year after year how much stronger these channel partners are getting into delivering cloud services," Nelson said. A new NetSuite application Relevant Products/Services called SuiteSocial lets users automatically socialize business data for use with social-networking and collaboration Relevant Products/Services apps Relevant Products/Services. With SuiteSocial, for example, users can follow records of interest in NetSuite and automatically generate content that can be syndicated to an external social stream or feed.

The NetSuite SuiteSocial content is integrated and presented to Yammer users as activity stories in Yammer's new Activity Streams. Sacks said, "We can make all of your records much more collaborative and social. Yammer Activity Streams are expected to launch in the second quarter, followed by the NetSuite integration early in the third quarter.

Research-Based Solutions

A new NetSuite Unlimited product works to remove the limits around the number of users, subsidiaries, add-on modules, and third-party SuiteApps so companies can scale without software pains. NetSuite pointed to research studies that showcase the demand for solutions like Unlimited.

Gartner Relevant Products/Services reports that more than 2,000 CIOs have identified cloud computing as a priority for 2011. And IDC forecasts that enterprises with more than 1,000 employees will account for more than 43 percent of the cloud market by 2014. What's more, IDC predicts large enterprises will turn to cloud solutions at a rate six times higher than that of conventional, on-premise software.

Also announced was deeper integration with Google Apps and the Google Apps Marketplace, including contextual integration between the main components of NetSuite and both Gmail and Google Calendar. The goal is to offer improved productivity in the cloud.
