Apple has ended Google’s four-year streak by becoming last year’s most valuable brand in the world on Millward Brown BrandZ Top100 list. The Cupertinos shot their brand value by 84% to dismantle Google from the no. 1 position, with the iDevice brand now worth $153 billion.
Apple’s success is attributed to the release of the iPad, which sold more units than Macs and iPhone in that time period.
Other tech companies on the list were, of course, Google at no. 2 with a brand value of $111 billion, IBM at no. 3 ($101 billion), and Microsoft at no .5 ($78 billion). AT&T came at no. 7 to become the most valuable telecom provider; Amazon took over Wallmart at no. 14 to become the most valuable retail brand. Social networking giant Facebook made to no. 35 spot as well, registering the highest increase over last year with 246%.
Earlier in the month, Google was awarded the most reputable company in the world based of a survey of 30, 000 Americans by Harrison Interactive. Apple was the 5th most reputed company on the list.
