Nokia considering selling cell phone unit to Microsoft

Now, here’s a shocker. According a blog post from Eldar Murtazin, an industry insider known for his accurate intel, Nokia is seriously considering selling its entire cell phone unit to Microsoft – whom the company struck a deal with earlier this year to produce Windows Phone 7 devices.

The deal could be made as soon as the end of this year, however details of which will not be disclosed immediately.

“Next week Nokia will start the negotiations about the sale of it’s phone unit to Microsoft. For now the results of the negotiations won’t be public, but the deal might close before the end of 2011. Both companies are in a big hurry.”

The rumor has once again fueled the conspiracy of Stephen Elop, an ex-Microsoft executive, being a “Trojan Horse”, set out to sell Nokia to the Redmondians for cheap.

The story does sound far fetched, but hey, Nokia started out as a paper company. You never know.
