Bill Gates played an important part in Skype takeover

While the regular suit and boots were involved in acquiring Skype for Microsoft, former CEO and Chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates told BBC that he too played an important in sealing the deal.

“I was a strong proponent at the board level for the deal being done,” Mr Gates, Microsoft’s chairman told the BBC’s Hardtalk programme.

“I think it’s a great, great deal for Skype. I think it’s a great deal for Microsoft,” he added.

Microsoft made it’s largest acquisition deal last Tuesday when it announced it had acquired Skype for a whopping $8.5 billion. The Remondians were specific on what it plans to do with newly acquired service, however Gates hinted towards improving video conferencing, saying “it is going to get so much better than it is today”.

“It’ll be fascinating to see how the brilliant ideas out of Microsoft research, coming together with Skype, what they can make of that.”

Indeed.
