DefCon is one of the largest security meets in the calendar, and most major corporations keep an eye out for developments (or should!). This years DefCon held in Las Vegas brought us many interesting newsbytes, including one of Facebook paying hackers to hack the worlds most popular social network.
A security team including the company Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan has been making the rounds encouraging hackers to find flaws in the system. Speaking to the Huffington Post, Sullivan said that “It mobilizes a lot of great security experts all over the world who are passionate about security. Hackers like to hack. We’re basically saying, ‘We want you to hack our site and we want you find things and we’re happy to pay you.”Â
Not a bad idea, seeing as how many would happily hack for free. Better to keep on their good side, then.
If this is your kind of thing, you must be the first to report the flaw, stick to their disclosure policy, and happen to reside in a country not under US sanctions. Or atleast look like you do.
So the AntiSec campaign did make a difference in a bizarre way.
