Symantec famous for its “Norton” line up of antivirus and security software for Desktop PCs has just released a freeware security app for Android devices called: Norton Mobile Security Lite. This security app detects mobile related antivirus and malware on downloaded files as well as on inserted SD cards. The app is targeted to be very battery friendly.
The Lite version also comes with feature to lock your phone remotely. Whereas the paid version called: “Norton Mobile Security 2.0″ adds to this feature set the ability to locate your phone and to wipe it remotely, among a few others. With the rampant use of smartphones and their “always-on” the internet nature leaves them vulnerable to many threats and having such an app for free may not be a bad idea for people.
