Skype for Mac rolls out HD video calling update

Skype has released a new version for Mac which is now capable of transferring HD video. The New MacBook Pros come equipped with FaceTime HD cameras and Skype will put that to good use. You can use a third part USB HD webcam as well to enable HD resolutions in skype. Skype does recommend a 1.5 Mbps upload/download bandwidth for HD calls.

Even though many Apple fanatics remain loyal to Apple’s own FaceTime but truth is that it has remained static since its launch, while Skype continues to improve. The new 5.3 version of Skype just doesn’t add HD video calls but comes with other bug fixes and full Lion compatibility. Those who have long contact lists would also found a lovable option to mark favorite contacts in their contact list.
