Rumor: Kinect 2 can detect your emotional state

Microsoft will be cramming Kinect 2 with futuristic features, Eurogamer reports.

The new hardware, which will come packaged with the next Xbox, will be able to lip read, detect your emotional state (angry, smiling, etc.), know which direction your facing, track pitch and volume of your voice, and microwave your food (the last one might not be accurate, or in the report).

I wonder if Kinect 2 will have more of those captive eyes (pun intended).

Kinect 2 will also ditch the USB interface, which limits data transfer to 30 frames per second at 320×240 resolution.

“It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?”, Eurogamer’s source said.

Rumors of the next Xbox has been pacing up for the past month or so. Recently, it was rumored that the new Xbox will come in two flavors – one for casual gamers and one for hardcore gamers – and will have Kinect packaged in both of them.
