If you go to your Gmail right now you’ll see a black bar on the top, the main navigation bar which shows most of Google’s products you can use in a second. Slim as it is, Google thinks that this takes “precious space on your screen.”
So what they have done instead is to remove the black bar on the top and instead implemented the navigation in a more subtle way. Now you just hover the mouse over the big Gmail icon and you’ll have access to all the products, except for Google+ which still remains on the right side.
