Steve Job’s official biography, written by Walter Isaacson might be coming as early as 21st November if the publishing date from Barnes & Noble is correct. The new, and probably final cover, of the biography has also been released, showing the iconic photo of Steve Jobs with a week old beard.
Originally titled “iSteve: The Book Jobs” it was changed to just “Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson” after Isaacson’s wife and daughter (very rightly) remarked that the old title was “too cutesy”. Keeping in line with Job’s own design philosphpy to keep things simple and elegant, the new cover was also changed from the rather cheesy original.
In his 448 pages official biography Steve Jobs has “asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off limits and instead encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly even foes, former girlfriends, and colleagues he had once fired or infuriated,” as stated by publisher Simon & Schuster.
“Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.”
Do note that Amazon still lists the book as being released on March 6, 2012. One of these retailers is right, and I hope it’s B&N!
