News came in over the weekend from the Japanese site Kodawarisan that Apple will be holding an event on 7th September where they will launch the new line of iPods. In the past Kodawarisan successfully predicted the new (now current) Mac-mini in 2009, so the site does have some credibility.
Usually Apple will hold an event during Fall season where they have traditionally launched new iPods. This year though, things might be a bit different. Since Apple didn’t make the announcement of the iPhone 4G/5 during this year’s WWDC, there might be a chance that Cupertino has a lot in store as far as announcements are concerned; launching both the new iPods and the fifth iteration of the iPhone on 7th September.
Don’t hold you breath though, despite the fact that iOS5 will be launching in September, the iPhone 5 will most likely be coming out in October as Apple may hold a completely separate event for that. Who knows, maybe the iPad 3 will be launched alongside the new iPhone as well?
With the recent decline in iPod sales globally, don’t be surprised if there’s a SKU completely cut from the iPod line. For now though, September 7th maybe a date to remember if you’re in the market for a new iPod.
