NEC announced their latest industrial grade techno marvel with the X-Info Table. The 52″ table, or tablet if you will, has a 10-point multitouch display on the 1080p screen. With the 160kg of weigh, you get an Intel Core-i7 CPU and 6GB of RAM. There are 3x USB ports, WiFi and Geographic Information Support according to Tech Crunch. All of this is presented on a polished Windows 7 interface.
NEC is said to be targeting all types of customers for the X-Info Table, not just the industrial sector. So universities, hospitals and hotels could well be using the X-Info as well. There’s a scanning functionality with extended montior support (for up to 4 displays), and this opens up a whole new door for interactivity. Prices haven’t been announced yet, but the X-Info Table is set to be sold by early 2012.
This comes as a significant competitor to the latest generation of Microsoft Surface, which reportedly also has a 1080p screen (40″), but with 50-touch multitouch display. The Surface sells for around $7,600, and if NEC wants to compete with Microsoft’s customized solution, they’ll probably price the X-INfo Table around the same price, given the bigger screen size and higher specs.
