Nokia Ovi maps come to Android and iOS via HTML5

Ovi maps were prized possession of Nokia users. I use both Ovi maps on Nokia and Google maps on Android, and Ovi maps is much better in many aspects hands down. But recently Nokia announced that Ovi maps will be coming to Windows Phone 7 also. And now Ovi team have released a brand new mobile site for Ovi maps powered by HTML5 which enables all the smartphones including Android and iOS to use Ovi maps on their favorite handsets.

Do remember this is a HTML5 website and not native apps for Android or iOS, so you cannot expect all the features of Ovi maps as on Nokia like turn by turn navigation, 3D maps or offline map support will not be there. But still it comes feature packed with ability to track your location, search for places, find routes etc. The interface uses all the HTML5 and touch screen gimmicks to provide the best experience to pan and zoom the map. The site is currently in beta but it clearly shows some great features. So, if you are looking for an alternate to Google maps, there is no app to download just point your browser to Ovi maps site and you will be good to go.
