Lenovo, popular PC manufacturers, today announced their entry into the Apple dominated and very crowded market of Tablet PCs. The company has launched two Android-based devices – the consumer-oriented IdeaPad K1, and the business-oriented ThinkPad Tablet.
The IdeaPad K1 features a 10.4″ screen, 32GB hard drive, 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera, MicroSD card reader, mini-HDMI connection, and Bluetooth and WiFi support. The device will run on Android 3.1 and will come with a pack of built-in games and apps such as Netflix, Vendetta Online, etc. IdeaPad K1 is priced at $499.
The ThinkPad Tablet shares the same internals as the K1, however it will also come in 16GB ($479) and 32GB ($589) flavors as well. The tablet will also feature a full USB port and SD card reader. The device will be available in WiFi-only; a 3G version is planned for release this Fall.
Interestingly, Lenovo also revealed a Windows 7-powered tablet for launch this Fall as well. The device will run on a 1.5Ghz processor from Intel and feature a 10.1″ screen. Pricing was not revealed for this model.
