Intelligent T-Shirt can monitor your body

Researchers at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid have created an ‘intelligent t-shirt’ which can monitor bodily functions and provide data to doctors and athletics teams for detailed analysis on a person’s performance, as reported by Tom’s Guide.

The t-shirt’s fabric integrates electrodes woven into the base material which have the ability to record body temperature and bioelectric power. The intelligent t-shirt also has a built-in accelerometer and the ability to track a user’s position. The t-shirt will also provide data on the orientation of the body, whether the person is running or lying down, etc.

The main target audience for this intelligent t-shirt are hospitals and medical institutes where doctors can monitor their patient’s recovery and current health status. For athletes this will also come in very handy where cardiovascular activity can be monitored to identify any abnormalities well before hand.

Currently the intelligent t-shirt is in prototype stages, but don’t be surprised if you’ll see it in hospitals soon. And wait till Nike or Adidas get a hold of this!
