Joe Marini, who worked with Microsoft since 2003 and has been one of the senior programmers for Windows Phone 7, specifically Internet Explorer, has been let go over some irresponsible tweets.
Joe teased about an upcoming, and as yet unannounced, Nokia phone running Windows Phone 7 OS in a twitter post two weeks ago.
Now that’s all nice and dandy, corporate seniors expressing enthusiasm about unannounced products is nothing new. However, when one of his followers asked how he would rate the phone no a scale of 1 to 10, he went on and posted this:
Woops! And to make matters worse, when the same person asked why he rated the “slickest looking Nokia phones…ever seen” a score of just 8, he tweeted back with this:
And the rest was history. Clearly Microsoft takes such leaks seriously, and discussing about confidential information such as a partner firm’s unreleased/ unannounced product is against company policy. Today a spokeswoman from Microsoft confirmed that Joe Marini no longer works with them. Other rumor have suggested that Marini actually resigned after knowing that Microsoft would be letting go of him any day now.
So remember folks, don’t tweet about everything!
