Google+ ‘Pages’ Rolls Out For Everyone

Pretty soon after Google+ launched, businesses and brands were eager to join in and open a business page akin to Facebook Pages. But there was no way to do such a thing, which led them to creating normal accounts. Google didn’t like that, and in a very controversial move, began to quickly start deleting non-human accounts. Now, they’ve finally implemented Google Pages which allows people to create a page and the feature is now available for everyone.

Anyone with a Google Plus account can now visit here and create their own page for their business or brand instantly. The process is not much different from the Facebook equivalent, but basically all you need to do is select one of the four presented categories:

Local Business or Place Product or Brand Company, Institution or Organization Arts, Entertainment or Sports Other

Unlike Facebook, you cannot select a vanity URL for your page as of now but this can change in the near future. Also, one can use the network as the user or the page just like Facebook, but can change the name of the page anytime they want which is the opposite of what Facebook allows. You can create as many pages as you want, but only you can be the administrator as of now and the ownership cannot be transferred. As a page, one can share photos, videos and conduct hangouts just the way that they do with their profiles, but there are differences such as not being able to follow someone unless they are following you.

It’s great that Google is finally letting businesses in and it will definitely help them gain more market share than earlier as major brands make the jump (some already did) and bring an audience to the page.
