GITEX ’11: Playing pong with our minds

‘No hands, no aggression, no violence.’ Those are the ground foundations of Mindball, a basic two-player game from NovelQuest where each player must control a small ping-pong sized ball with their minds.

The basic rule of the game is to relax. Seriously. The more relaxed a player is, the quicker the ball will move away from him and towards the opponent, eventually handing him defeat without ever uttering an expletive.

And it works. The accompanying electrodes-equipped headband accurately reads the electrical activity of our brain, called EEG (electroencephalogram), and adjusts the ball accordingly. The more excited we were, the quicker we were getting closer to defeat.
