Making rugged and built-to-last devices is nothing new to Motorola. They did it with the Android-based Defy smartphone, and now have moved their expertise to the business market.
At GITEX 2011, Motorola unveiled ET1, the “world’s first” tablet for enterprise. The tablet is Android-based, with a layer of security added on top of it. Although not the sleekest looking device on the market, the ET1 is tough and can brush of the harsh of conditions such as rain, hot weather, and it’s gorilla glass insures scratch and dust free display.
On top of it, Motorola has added no less than five programmable keys, two of which are shoulder buttons, like a game controller. The buttons can be used as shortcuts to launch apps and other software stored in the tablet.
We chat with Huzaifa Sailawala, regional sales manager at Motorola, who takes us through the new tablet.
