ST- Ericsson will deliver Nokia’s Windows Phone processors

While Qualcomm has long been the company that powers the all Windows Phone devices avialble in the market, there has been word earlier this year that Nokia will actually be going with ST-Ericsson to provide the dual-core chips for its phones.

However, only today did the news become official, as Nokia announced that it will be going with ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor for its Windows Phones. However, this deal is not necessarily exclusive, and we might still see Qualcomm chips in Nokia devices.

“We are pleased to have been selected by Nokia as a key partner for Windows smartphones, in line with our goal to be present in all segments and major operating systems,” said Gilles Delfassy, president and CEO of ST-Ericsson. “Our NovaThor platforms continue to gain traction as they enable customers to bring great smartphones to the market.”
