GarageBand, Apple's popular music creation and editing app, has been available to Mac and iPad users for a while — but now iPhone and iPod Touch users can get in on the musical action, too.a
The app will set you back five bucks and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.a
It's worth noting that it is a Universal App — meaning that the same app works on an iPhone or iPod Touch device as well as on an iPad. (Yes, that also means you won't have to reach for your wallet if you've already purchased GarageBand for your iPad. You'll simply be able to install it on your iPhone or iPod Touch device as well now.)a

The app offers multi-touch sensitive instruments — it uses the accelorometer to measure pressure intensity — such as guitars, pianos, organs, drums, keyboards, synths, and more. There are also all sorts of amps, effects, 8-track recording, loop libraries, and export features.a
As if that's not enough, there are custom chords, 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures, quantization options for recording, adjustable velocity settings for instruments, and just about everything you could want out of a mobile music creation and editng tool.a

But what if you don't know how to play an instrument at all? Not a problem. There's a Smart Instrument feature which teaches you to play (as well as an AutoPlay function which lets you pretend to be a masterful musician).a
