Native Gmail App Finally Arriving on iPhone

With the iPhone being an extremely popular smartphone, one of the many glaring absences app-wise is the absence of a native Gmail app for the phone. Sure, there are plenty of third party apps that allow access to it but Google never had their own app to access their service. But from the word of things, that’s about to change.

ParisLemon has the scoop and they report from multiple sources that Google has finished development on an official app and will be submitting it to Apple for review. I don’t see any reason that it won’t be approved, unless if the very closed system of Apple doesn’t want another e-mail app on their platform. Which would be a shame, to say the least. But this would finally allow push notifications and a streamlined way to access the most efficient e-mail service in the world. And word on the street is that it’s an actually polished app and not just one done for the sake of it. Also, since it’s an official app, expect their newest features like Priority Inbox (a life-saver) and other Lab features to make their way in there as well.

Can’t believe it took this long to happen, don’t you think?
