Two days worth of videos uploaded to YouTube each minute

By Rosa Golijan

Beloved video service YouTube is celebrating its sixth birthday this month and boy, has it grown up! The site not only gets more than three billion views each day, but it also gets two days worth of new videos uploaded each minute.a

These statistics were shared on the official YouTube blog, along with the neat graphical summary below, and they're pretty mind-blowing.a

If you're struggling to wrap your mind around just how impressive 48 hours of freshly uploaded videos are, consider all the things that you could do in two day's time:a

And as far as the three billion daily views go? Well, that's "the equivalent of nearly half the world’s population watching a YouTube video each day, or every U.S. resident watching at least nine videos a day."a

Happy Birthday, YouTube. At the rate you're growing up, you'll rule the entire world by this time next year.a
