Two day's worth of videos uploaded to YouTube daily

By Rosa Golijan

Beloved video service YouTube is celebrating its sixth birthday this month and boy, has it grown up! The site not only gets over three billion views each day, but it also has two days worth of new videos uploaded daily.a

These statistics were shared on the official YouTube blog, along with the neat graphical summary below, and they're pretty mind-blowing.a

If you're struggling to wrap your mind around just how impressive 48 hours of freshly uploaded videos are, consider all the things that you could do in two day's time:a

You could drive non-stop across the country from [the YouTube] office in San Bruno, Calif. to New York City You could undertake a massive movie marathon by watching the entire Back to the Future trilogy eight and a half times (we’d recommend you do that at YouTube Movies) An ambitious cheetah (the fastest land animal at an average running speed of 75 mph) starting in South Africa could traverse 3600 miles of the African continent and reach Egypt

And as far as the three billion daily views go? Well, that's "the equivalent of nearly half the world’s population watching a YouTube video each day, or every U.S. resident watching at least nine videos a day."a

Happy Birthday, YouTube. At the rate you're growing up, you'll rule the entire world by this time next year.a
