The rumor mills won’t stop churning till the iPhone 5 releases (and then it will start again for the next iPhone…it’s a vicious circle), and it seems like it will be a while before consumers and fans get their hands on one. Recent rumors suggested that Apple is only looking to release a minor update to the iPhone 4, with upgraded hardware and a feature or two.
However, that doesn’t stop the iPhone 5 news to go leaking about. According to DigiTimes, rumors out of the Taiwanese supply chain of Apple suggests that the iPhone 5 will have a curved glass design, much like 4th and 5th generation iPod Nanos. Apparently, Apple purchased 200 to 300 glass cutting machines after glass makers showed reluctance in splashing out for them considering the high capital. It is said the machines will not be used until the “yield rates for the production of curved glass reaches a satisfactory level.”
Take it how you may, but we might have some concrete information at next month’s WWDC. And if not, at the yearly September event, maybe?
