The Syrian government believes that only the iPhone has Facebook and Twitter applications that are being used to spread anti-government messages and fueling protests. Or at least it looks like that.
The government has banned the use of iPhones in the country, according to a report from BBC. In a statement apparently issued by the customs department (although not yet confirmed), people are warned “against using the iPhone in Syria”.
The new law also bans imports of iPhones in the country.
I guess the government conveniently forgot that even the most ‘dumbest’ of mobile phones can access Facebook and Twitter websites. Not to mention, hey, Android…
