Looks like Adobe’s discontinuation of Flash on the mobile wasn’t that great of an idea for them after all, since it seems to have launched a surprising new movement that wants the platform out of users’ PC’s as well. The website is Occupy Flash, and here’s what they pledge:
   Flash Player is dead. Its time has passed. It’s buggy. It crashes a lot. It requires constant security updates. It doesn’t work on most mobile devices. It’s a fossil, left over from the era of closed standards and unilateral corporate control of web technology. The aim is to get users to uninstall Flash from their PC, Mac, Linux or Google Chrome browsers. They are also e-mailing and urging websites to stop using the platform and switch to the more open HTML5 instead. But who is behind the movement? Is it really Apple? Highly unlikely, and the group has said that it “has no corporate backing, and is not a lobbying effort of any sort.” Also, they don’t seem to have anything against Adobe in particular but just want the company to shift to the HTML5 platform for their upcoming applications. What do you think? Too much or justified?
