The Eee Pad Transformer worked tremendously for Asus. The gadget, which married a tablet and a keyboard successfully, because an instant hit with the consumers, selling 300,000 units in June and 400, 000 units in July alone. And so, like every success that needs it, Asus are currently preparing a sequel to the Transformer, and is aiming for an October release, if reports from Digitimes is anything to go by.
According to the report, Asus has paired Wintek and HannStar Display to ramp up production of the new device. The duo will produce small-volume shipments in the middle of third quarter and crank it up to 11 at the end of the quarter.
The Transformer 2 is expected to pack in Kal-El, the super fast quad core chip from Nvidia, and also the IceCream Sandwich build of the Android operating system.
