Panasonic brings its Toughbook brand to tablets

aaaaaPanasonic has announced that it will be extending its Toughbook brand to tablets as well. The company’s Toughbook laptops are relatively popular and are even used by the military for its ability to withstand the wear and tear of the business. With the Toughbook tablets range, the company aims to provide the same level of durability and reliability as well.

aaaaa“Enterprise customers are very interested in the tablet market, but have been frustrated by the lack of appropriate solutions,” said Rance Poehler, president, Panasonic Solutions Company. “The vast majority of tablet devicesâ€"regardless of the OSâ€"are engineered for consumers and don’t offer appropriate levels of security and durability or the functionality needed for business use. Like all Toughbook products, our Toughbook tablet will be designed and constructed with the mission-critical mobile user in mind.”

aaaaaThe Panasonic Toughbook tablet will feature a 10.1″ “high brightness, daylight viewable screen”, 3G and 4G wireless capability, satellite-based GPS, “full shift battery life”, and increased security features “embedded at the hardware level”. The tablet will be Android based. No price or release date were given.
