Etisalat denies it spilled any info on a new iPhone for 2011

aaaaaFirst, let me paste the Press Release that Etisalat sent out a few minutes back:

aaaaaCLARIFICATION Abu Dhabi, 12 June. 2011: Etisalat held an LTE Media Seminar on 9th June 2011, following which there were several announcements in the media about the launch of LTE services in the UAE.

aaaaaIn reference to these announcements, Etisalat would like to clarify that the Corporation is in talks with a number of manufacturers to bring the latest LTE-compatible devices to the UAE â€" including USB dongles, modems and mobile devices â€" whenever they become available from the manufacturer, after Etisalat’s official launch of LTE in Q3, 2011.

aaaaaAt no point did Etisalat confirm that any new iPhone device will be launched in 2011.

aaaaaNow, let me quickly add that they are absolutely right. I was at that LTE conference and the only person that mentioned the next iPhone based on LTE was a representative from Huawei- not Etisalat. Even with that, there was no info above and beyond that. I have no idea where Gulf News got their information from- must’ve been a slow news day.
